Lenny Posso is a pure product from the Big Apple, however as graphic designer and label manager his influences are much wider. If you look carefully on Thema’s catalog, the transition from Akiko Kiyama to Terrence Dixon occurred on the long run passing through artists such as Norm Talley. There is also few Frenchies that appears in the catalog like Ark and also newcomers that were working under the radars at that time like Ion Ludwig or Ernesto Ferreyra. Finally, it’s easy to understand that Thema’s catalog is closely linked to the spontaneity and the friendliness of Lenny who is a very social character. If the diversity on Thema is pretty singular, Chronicle is defined on a very clearly guideline and seems to look at the MotorCity with insistence. Many of the Chronicle’s artists express obviously an inclination for science fiction and the Jeff Mills’s approach the genre. As a perfectionist, he sent us three versions of the Phonocast, we eventually picked the third one that sounded deeper than the precedent test. Good listening!
