Si vous êtes originaire de L.A. (comprenez Loire-Atlantique, ndlr), vous connaissez forcément cet homme fougueux à la barbiche généreuse qu’on appelle Jankola. Organisateur des soirées “Visite /Visite” et ami de longue date de la famille Phonographe, Jankola a largement participé à la démocratisation de la musique électronique à Nantes. Bambounou, Ryan Elliot, Redshape, Chloé, Losoul ou encore Snuff Crew, tous se sont succédés dans le booth de l’Alter Café pour sa résidence. Cette semaine, il nous offre un Phonocast lent et mélodique qui fait l’éloge d’un exercice de style bien souvent dévalorisé, mais ô combien compliqué, le warm up. Avec légèreté et précision, Jankola montre à quel point il excelle pour trouver le bon ton et le juste équilibre sur ces une heure et demie. Bonne écoute… et comme il le dit si bien : “Allez, la bizh !”.
If you’re based in the French L.A. (that stands for Loire-Atlantique) you probably heard about the impetuous man known as Jankola. Indeed, our long time friend positively contributed to the development of electronic music in Nantes through his activism and parties. Resident and founder of the Visite/Visite project, he invited artists such as Bambounou, Ryan Elliot, Redshape, Chloé Losoul or Snuff Crew to play in the infamous Alter Café’s dj booth. This week he gave us a very slow and vibrant recorded set that insists on an exercise most of the time underestimated the warm up. During one hour and half the French artist shows nicely how to build a warm up mood with skills and finesse adopting the right tone at the right moment. Good listening!
