En tant que bloggers des années 2000, nous avons forcément été influencés par l’une des références en la matière, Little White Earbuds, qui se démarque tant par la finesse de ses critiques musicales que ses podcast pointus (on a encore en tête ceux de Midland et Levon Vincent). Nous avons demandé à Steve Mizek, l’un des fondateurs, de choisir 10 morceaux pour nos lecteurs. Il a réussi à trouver le temps dans l’avion qui le ramenait du Panorama Bar à sa ville, Chicago. En homme pressé, il n’a pas eu le temps de nous commenter ses choix, mais la musique est bien là [Update : au moment pile où j’écris ces phrases, celui-ci m’envoie les ‘blurbs’] :
As bloggers from the 2010’s, we’ve obviously been influenced by Little White Earbuds, a true reference on the blogging market, thanks to accurate reviews and neat podcasts (we’re still thinking about Midland’s or Levin Vincent’s realeased earlier this year). We asked Steve Mizek, one of the founders, to pick 10 corkers for our readers. He managed to give it to us during his return trip from Panorama Bar to Chicago. As a busy man, he did not have the time to comment his choices, but he made a killer selection [Update : As I was writing the previous lines, Steve sent me the blurbs !] :

I chose these 10 as tracks that really stood out from this year. LWE covered almost all of them, as well.”
LWE a été fondé en 2007 pour offrir un oeil neuf sur la musique de danse actuelle, proposant autre chose que ce qui existait déjà en la matière. Nous restons exclusif, imparticial, que ce soit dans nos chroniques ou dans nos interviews. J’ai choisi 10 morceaux qui m’ont vraiment impressionné cette année. LWE les a d’ailleurs toutes évoquées.
R-ZONE – ROMIJN RAVINE – R-ZONE
Not only the best of the R-Zone series so far (in my estimation), but one of the best new tracks to integrate hardcore breaks. Fresh and playable in a variety of sets.
Ceci n’est pas seulement l’un des meilleurs morceaux de la série R-Zone, mais également l’un des meilleurs morceaux à intégrer des breaks hardcore. Frais et jouable en toute situation.
FUNCTION – VOICEPRINT (REPRISE) – OSTGUT TON
Listening to Incubation you really get a sense for all the time Function spent making it. The reprise version of Voiceprint neatly encapsulates what makes this album one of the best techno releases in 2013.
Cette version de Voiceprint intègre élégamment ce qui fait de cet album assurément l’une des meilleures sorties techno de 2013.
MA SPAVENTI – THE JUNGLE – MOS DEEP
Ma Spaventi is a wildman! He’s had a great 2013, but this one rips a hole in every dance floor it’s played on.
Ma Spaventi est sauvage ! Il a eu une très bonne année 2013, et ce morceau casse des culs sur n’importe quel dance floor où il est joué.
PJOTR – TRUE SPIRIT – UDACHA
Another excellent found by Udacha, and the highlight of a truly gorgeous EP. Psychadelic tendencies on this one.
Un autre bijou à tendance psychédélique trouvé par Udacha qui met l’accent sur un excellent EP.
KASPAR – MISSIN YOU (THE SONGLEADER MIX) – STRIPPED & CHEWED
This one slipped under a lot of radars, but it’s an excellent combination of relentless groove and Mr White’s engaging vocals. Make sure to check out the Bells Boys remix on the B side.
Celui-ci est plutôt passé inaperçu, mais c’est une excellente combinaison d’un groove implacable and des vocaux de Mr White. Je conseille également le remix de Bells Boys sur la face B.
ELGATO – WE DREAM ELECTRIC – ELGATO
Elgato’s only 2013 dispatch continues his streak of unstoppable hypnotic tools. Neck and neck with “Blue” for Elgato’s best track.
Elgato a marqué 2013 avec ses DJ tools instoppables et hypnotiques. “Blue” et “We dream electric” se disputent la première place du podium.
JIMPSTER – PORCHLIGHT AND ROCKINGCHAIRS – FREERANGE RECORDS
Too many people slept on this album! If I could point them to one track to convince them to have a listen, it would likely be the title track. Beautifully melodic, perfectly arranged, and just a real pleasure to listen to.
Trop de monde a laissé passer cet album ! Si je devais choisir un morceau pour convaincre tout le monde de l’écouter, ce serait probablement celui-ci. Mélodique, parfaitement arrangé, un vrai plaisir de l’écouter.
KYLE HALL – CRUSHED – WILD OATS
Kyle Hall certainly delivered on the promise of his talent with The Boat Party LP, but the filter-house twists and turns of “Crushed” stands tall above the rest.
Kyle Hall n’a pas failli à sa réputation avec cet excellent album The Boat Party. Rien est à jeter, mais je dois dire que la house filtrée de “Crushed” reste au-dessus du panier.
MURAT TEPELI – FOREVER (PROSUMER’S HOLD ME TOUCH ME REMIX) – AVA
Murat Tepeli was on a roll this year, and the EP this came from should be bought on site. But for my money, Prosumer’s amped version is the DJ’s best friend.
Murat Tepeli est sorti du lot cette année, et cet EP mérite toute notre attention. Mais la version de Prosumer vaut également son pesant d’or.
JOHN BARERA & WILL MARTIN – REALITY – DOLLY
Steffi made two rather smart decisions with this one: First, including it on Panorama Bar 05, and second, signing it to her own Dolly imprint. It’s hard to make a track this vivacious and fun without going overboard, yet it seemed effortless coming from these two exceptional talents from Boston. Look for big things from them in 2014.
