Tout a commencé à Karlskrona dans les années 1980, Johan Stureson (Kord), Bjorn Isgren et Jan Svanson commencent à y faire de la musique ensemble. Intéressés par la musique industrielle, la new wave et l’acid, ils créent l’énigmatique et légendaire groupe que l’on connaît aujourd’hui : Frak. Il y a trois ans environ, nous découvrions l’ampleur de leur travail qui commence à peine à s’exporter au-delà des frontières suédoises et quelques mois plus tard nous les invitions à jouer au Batofar aux côté de Traxx. Depuis, nous avons toujours gardé un œil sur le label Börft et nous avons finalement découvert les projets parallèles de Johann. Kord a ainsi commencé en 1998 à une époque où il sentait le besoin de s’exprimer aux travers d’un nouvel alias. Après avoir envoyé quelques morceaux à son comparse Jan (Svanson), un premier EP est sorti. Après quelques sorties et un projet mené en pointillé, Annie, sa compagne, la rejoint. Le duo travaille main dans la main dans un théâtre, dispensant des cours aux personnes âgées et fait de la musique en studio et sur scène. Dans les deux dernier cas de figures, Kord est aux machine tandis qu’Annie s’occupe de la partie vocale. Ils ont également collaboré sur ce mix en faisant la sélection ensemble puis Johan (Kord) s’est chargé de la mixer. Le Ph du Phonocast est plutôt acid et la sélection résonne tel un bel oxymore, chaud par ses textures et froid par l’atmosphère qu’il dégage. Bonne écoute !
Everything started in Karlskrona in the 80’s. Johann (Kord), Bjorn and Jan began to make music together. Interested in many different influences such as Industrial music, new wave, and acid they founded the legendary and enigmatic band that we know as Frak. Three years ago we eventually discovered their massive work and found an opportunity to invite the trio for one of their rare live performance at Batofar alongside Traxx. Also, we kept looking for Borft and discovered Johann’s side projects. Today it’s about Kord, in 1998, Johann started this alias as a side project to express other ideas that needed to be released. After submitting few tracks to his friend Svensson, the first Ep came out. After few releases, the setup slightly changed as Johann integrated his girlfriend to the project. Working together in a theater for old persons, they pursued their collaboration producing music in the studio and performing on stage. In both situations, the Annie is mainly on the vocals meanwhile Kord work on the machines. For this Phonocast, they selected the records together, and Johan mixed it. Kord & Annie gives us a cool selection that sound like a nice oxymoron hot with the textures but cold with the atmosphere of the mix. Good listening!
