Scott Grooves est l’un des rares artistes de la scène House de Détroit que certains d’entre nous ont pu découvrir aux alentours de 8 ans. En effet, de par les grands frères ou grandes sœurs déjà happés par les Daft Punk à leur âge d’or, vous aviez pu découvrir Mothership Reconnections dans lequel on entendait la voix du légendaire George Clinton mêlée au travail de Scott Grooves. On peut également rappeler ses collaborations avec Roy Ayers sur Expansion, Soma ou encore celle avec Alton Miller sur KMS qui attestent de sa formation Jazz/Funk/Soul. Depuis2007, Scott Grooves sort essentiellement ses productions entre ses deux labels Modified Suede ou Natural Midi, et fait des remixes à droite à gauche pour des labels tels que Bosconi ou Third Ear Recordings. Expérimentateur curieux et avisé, il est capable de dédier un disque à une machine. En témoigne l’hommage rendu lors des 25 ans de la fameuse 909 de chez Roland sur Natural Midi. Si beaucoup ne connaissent Scott Grooves que par ses productions, c’est également un dj hors-pair qui malheureusement tourne peu en Europe. Nous avions écrit un peu plus tôt cette année un article concernant son travail à l’occasion de son EP Bitter Sweet sorti sur Modified Suede. Il sortira prochainement un nouvel Ep sur Natural Midi, en attendant voici un Phonocast d’une classe rare qui rendra justice à ses talents de DJ. Bonne écoute !
Scott groove is one of the few artists from the Detroit-based House scene that some of us could have discovered around 8 years old, from big brothers and sisters already hit by the golden age of Daft punks. Indeed, you might have listened to Mothership Reconnections, a track inside what you could hear the voice of the legendary George Clinton melted to Scott’s work. We could also remember the works with Rou ayers on the track Expansion also released on Soma or the one with Alton Miller on KMS which testify of his massive Jazz/Funk/Soul background. Since 2007 Scott Grooves essentially produced tracks for his two structures Natural Midi and Modified Suede and sometimes doing remixes for few labels as Bosconi or Third Ear Recordings. As an aware and curious experimenter he is the kind of artist to dedicate a record to a machine, as he did for the famous Roland 909 on a release for natural midi in 2009. If too many people know Scott Grooves only by his production, he is also a remarkable dj who unfortunately don’t tour so much in Europe. We already published an article about his work when he released his Bittersweet Ep on Modified Suede. Soon he will release a new Ep on Natural Midi, but now here is a high class Phonocast which give the just credit to his dj and selector skills.
